Lebanese Pavilion – Rashid Karami International Fair
Oscar Niemeyer interpreted the Lebanese architectural arch in a modern form for the fair’s Lebanese Pavilion. One part of the building is organized around an internal courtyard enclosed by arches, while another uses glass held in a metal framework and includes a restaurant space.
A reflecting pool and green areas surround the pavilion. Visitors reach it by a bridge passing over the water, making the approach part of the architectural experience.
The building’s arrangement includes a basement, ground floor and mezzanine, bringing its different functions together within the pavilion’s compact form.
