Traditional Soapmaking
Soapmaking is a Tripolitan craft with more than seven centuries of history. Unlike many traditional trades facing disappearance, it has benefited from makers who developed distinctive varieties and promoted their products in Lebanon and abroad.
Some workshops preserve classic shapes and methods. Others have introduced new designs and variations in appearance and composition while retaining the natural ingredients and handmade character that give the soap its value as a traditional craft product.
